Board Member

The Board Member of the LeftRight 4 U Foundation plays a crucial role in providing strategic guidance, overseeing organizational activities, and ensuring the Foundation's mission and objectives are upheld. Members of the Board of Directors are responsible for shaping the overall direction of the Foundation, ensuring its financial stability, and upholding its commitment to promoting social and political balance. 

Requirements

Strategic Planning: Collaborate with fellow board members to establish and review the Foundation's mission, vision, and strategic goals. Participate in the development and implementation of long-term plans and initiatives to advance the Foundation's mission of fostering constructive political discourse and bridging societal divides. 

 

Governance and Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of governance, ethics, and legal compliance. Ensure the Foundation operates in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines. Regularly review and update policies, procedures, and bylaws to promote transparency, accountability, and best practices. 

 

Financial Oversight: Monitor the Foundation's financial health and sustainability. Review and approve annual budgets, financial reports, and audit findings. Participate in fundraising efforts, donor cultivation, and resource mobilization initiatives. Ensure proper allocation of resources to support the Foundation's programs and initiatives. 

 

Program Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the Foundation's programs and initiatives. Regularly review progress against established goals and outcomes. Provide guidance and support in improving programmatic strategies, ensuring alignment with the Foundation's mission and objectives. 

 

Community Engagement and Advocacy: Serve as ambassadors and advocates for the Foundation within the community and at public events. Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government officials. Promote the Foundation's work, engage in public speaking opportunities, and represent the Foundation's interests in relevant forums. 

 

Board Development and Succession Planning: Actively participate in board meetings, committees, and special projects. Contribute expertise and diverse perspectives to board discussions. Collaborate with fellow board members to recruit, select, and onboard new directors. Facilitate a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and succession planning within the Board of Directors. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • A strong commitment to the mission and values of the LeftRight 4 U Foundation, including a dedication to promoting social and political balance and constructive dialogue. 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and expertise in governance, strategic planning, finance, fundraising, or related fields. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build effective relationships. 

  • Familiarity with nonprofit governance, legal compliance, and financial oversight. 

  • A willingness to devote time and effort to attend board meetings, committee meetings, and Foundation events. 

  • An understanding of the broader societal and political landscape, and a commitment to addressing social divisions and promoting inclusivity. 

 

Term and Time Commitment: 

Board Members typically serve a term of three (3) years and may be eligible for re-election. The time commitment involves attending regular board meetings, committee meetings, and special events. Additionally, members should allocate time for reviewing relevant materials, participating in strategic discussions, and engaging in Foundation-related activities.
